The majestic Holanda and Italia glaciers are part of Alberto de Agostini National Park, one of the 3 parks in the Cape Horn district. These parks are part of the Route of Parks of Patagonia and belong to the southernmost ice field on the American continent.

The route
01Murray Channel
This trip starts in Puerto Navarino, so first we take our bus from Puerto Williams to Puerto Navarino. From there we sail west, cross the Murray Channel and head into the Beagle Channel, first reaching some islets with sea lions, cormorants, South American terns, Magellanic penguins and more.
02Yendegaia Bay
After visiting the islets we continue west, passing the mouth of Yendegaia Bay, whose far end holds the Stoppani Glacier, which drains into the channel through the Yendegaia River.
03Darwin Range
We keep sailing west for about 1 hour and 30 minutes and begin to see the first glaciers of the Cordillera Darwin.
Sailing here is a true experience of the intense beauty of the pristine landscapes along the channels, watching the birds and marine wildlife up close; dolphins, sea lions, penguins, pelagic birds and even whales are common.
04Italia Glacier and Holanda Glacier
Weather permitting, we approach Italia Glacier to see the size of this glacier, more than 12,000 years old. Afterwards we head back east and, after 30 minutes of sailing, reach a white-sand beach where we land for a short walk to see Holanda Glacier. It is a truly moving walk: through native forest, along the white-sand beach and then up the edge of a hill to the Holanda Glacier lookout.
05Hoste Island
After seeing the glacier we return to our boat and head to Estancia Kanasaka on Hoste Island, where a barbecue of local produce awaits us. Kanasaka is the only estancia on remote Hoste Island and is home to just 3 people. After the barbecue we head back to our lodge.
